Three new Level 4 training programmes for the commercial road transport industry launched
MITO has released three new Level 4 training programmes for the commercial road transport industry: the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Specialist Driver) (Level 4) – Transportation of Logs; the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Specialist Driver) (Level 4) – Heavy Haulage Transportation; and the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Heavy Haulage Class 1 Pilot) (Level 4).
MITO Chief Executive Janet Lane says “The release of these innovative training programmes completes the suite of commercial road transport programmes MITO has delivered this year, following the release of the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport Skills (Level 3) and the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Heavy Vehicle Operator) (Level 3) in November. Together, these new programmes significantly improve the training opportunities within the industry and further demonstrate MITO’s abiding commitment to workforce development.”

The transportation of logs programme includes a mix of practical training and assessment, undertaken in the workplace, with eLearning providing learners the ability to complete theory elements of the programme in their own time using a mobile phone, tablet or PC.
The heavy haulage transportation and class 1 pilot programmes involve paper-based theoretical training and assessment, and task-based practical training and assessment that is undertaken in the workplace. Learning may also be supported by specific training courses provided by external off-job training providers.
