Designed in consultation with industry, this programme will provide experienced automotive electricians with the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively carry out complex system fault diagnostics and repair work on automotive electrical and electronic systems on vehicles or machines.
The training programme includes a mix of practical training and assessment, undertaken in the workplace, and eLearning, allowing you to complete theory elements of the programme at your own pace. You will have access to videos, interactive simulations and theory assessments, which can be easily accessed at any time and from any device – mobile phone, tablet or PC.

Learning outcomes include:
- Oversee team responsibilities and ensure compliance with legislative company requirements to maintain a safe and effective workplace
- Apply advanced technical skills and operational knowledge to diagnose and repair complex faults in vehicle electrical and electronic systems including high voltage systems on vehicles or machines
- Design, build, test and install complex electrical systems, including wiring diagrams that contain electronic devices.
entry REQUIREMENTS

To enrol in this programme you must be employed full-time in the industry and have completed the New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Electrical Engineering (Level 4), or provide evidence of equivalent skills and knowledge; have a minimum of 12 months’ work experience as an automotive electrical engineer; and have the ability to provide technical guidance to other automotive technicians within the workplace.
