In partnership with Paddon Rallysport, we are giving our automotive apprentices the opportunity to join MITO Ambassadors Hayden Paddon and Emma Gilmour on their rally crew for the following events:

  • Rally Otago: 4–6 April (applications close Wednesday 19 March)
  • Rally South Canterbury (Timaru): 9–10 May (applications close Thursday 10 April)
  • Coromandel Rally (Whitianga): 22–23 August (applications close Thursday 24 July)
  • Ashley Forest Rallysprint (Christchurch): 20–21 September (applications close Thursday 21 August)

You will spend your time with the whole team, to support Hayden and Emma with technical requirements and get to experience behind-the-scenes of professional motorsport. You will be expected to support the team where needed. This is an opportunity to be a part of a world-competing rally team so be prepared to work!

Flights and any other travel to and from the event, food, and accommodation will be covered by MITO and Paddon Rallysport.


Conditions

  • Applicants must be current MITO apprentices and must have completed at least one year of their automotive apprenticeship
  • Applicants must have consent for participation from their employer
  • Successful applicants may need to be available from Friday–Sunday depending on which rally they attend
  • Successful applicants will need to consent to their image being used for promotional purposes on MITO and Paddon Rallysport's media channels.

2024 DAYBREAKER RALLY

Two MITO apprentices, Scott Angus and Hannah Bashford, had the exciting opportunity to join the service crews of MITO Ambassadors and rally drivers, Hayden Paddon and Emma Gilmour, at the Daybreaker Rally in 2024.

Both apprentices agreed that the experience offered them valuable lessons. For Hannah, the most rewarding part was finishing the day without any issues. “Being able to pack up and move to the next stage without problems—that was great,” she said. Scott appreciated learning how to assess the wear and tear on rally vehicles quickly. “You need to know what to feel for when something’s a bit loose, like a wheel,” he explained.
