Important changes to MITO’s standard-setting and qualification development functions
As part of the government’s Reform of Vocational Education, six Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) will be officially stood up on Monday 4 October 2021.
From this date, MITO’s standard-setting, consent to assess, programme endorsement and qualification development functions will transfer to Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council, with the exception of the gas industry which will transfer to Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council.
MITO will continue to work with learners, employers, schools and tertiary education organisations to facilitate on-job training, support and moderate industry assessors and promote vocational education.
