Collision Repair and Automotive Refinishing Qualification Review

NOTE: This consultation period has been extended.

MITO is currently facilitating the scheduled review of the following qualifications:

We are asking for feedback from stakeholders as part of the review process.

In brief, the main changes proposed as part of this review are:

• to expire the New Zealand Certificate in Collision Repair and Automotive Refinishing (Level 3) [Ref: 3008] and replace this with the New Zealand Certificate in Collision Repair (Level 3) and the New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Refinishing (Level 3).
• to expire the New Zealand Certificate in Collision Repair (Non-Structural Repair) (Level 4)
• to list a New Zealand Certificate in Collision Repair (Level 4) which will include structural repair
• rename the New Zealand Certificate in Collision Repair (Structural Repair) (Level 5) to New Zealand Certificate in Collision Repair (Level 5)

This is your opportunity to provide feedback on the content of the qualifications. The documents below are the final consultation drafts.

The rationale for these changes is to ensure the qualification content is relevant, representative of industry’s needs, and meets the NZQA listing requirements.

Following this date, MITO will consider and incorporate feedback into the reviewed qualifications and then request stakeholders attestations to be completed, prior to making the NZQA submission.

Once the reviewed qualifications are approved and listed by NZQA, the current version of the qualifications will be set to expiring with a last date for assessment of the 31 December 2026.
