2020 MITO SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED
Following a record number of applications, 52 outstanding individuals have been awarded 2020 MITO scholarships.
The MITO scholarship programme contributes funding to support aspiring and successful graduate learners as they progress in their respective industries.
“Our 2020 MITO scholarship recipients submitted applications of an extremely high standard, and really impressed us with their drive and dedication to advancing their careers,” says MITO Chief Executive Janet Lane.
“We congratulate these worthy recipients and look forward to supporting them through their training programmes. They will undoubtedly become great ambassadors for the industries they represent.”
The 2020 scholarship recipients are in eight categories:
The MITO Alumni - Diploma in Business scholarships are awarded to individuals who have completed an automotive qualification through MITO and who wish to continue their studies. This scholarship pays the programme fee for MITO’s Diploma in Business (Leadership and Management) (Level 5).
The recipients are:

- Matthew Cox, Agrowquip NZ Ltd, Silverdale
- Matthew Pullan, Euromarque, Christchurch
The MITO Alumni - Electric Vehicle scholarships are awarded to individuals who have completed an automotive qualification through MITO and who wish to continue their studies. This scholarship pays the programme fee for MITO’s New Zealand Certificate in Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering (Level 5).
The recipients are:
- Sebastian Frances, Thomsen Automotive, Wellington
- Thomas Nikolaison, Tranzit Group Ltd, Wellington
The MITO Alumni – Other scholarships are awarded to individuals who have completed a qualification at Level 4 or above through MITO and who wish to continue their studies. This scholarship pays the first-year programme fee for any MITO apprenticeship or traineeship programme at Level 4 or above.
The recipients are:

The Business Skills scholarships are awarded to current or aspiring managers or supervisors in one of MITO’s industries and pay for the programme fees for MITO’s New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) programme.

The Clyde Cunningham QSM Memorial Scholarships are awarded to MITO automotive graduates in the Hawke’s Bay region and honour a long-standing MITO employee. This scholarship pays the programme fees for MITO’s New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) programme.
The recipients are:

- Jacinda Lush, Power Farming Hawke’s Bay, Hastings
The Kick Start scholarships are awarded to individuals who have full-time employment or an offer of full-time employment in one of MITO’s industries in 2020 and have not previously been enrolled in a MITO training programme at Level 4 or above. This scholarship pays the first-year fees for any MITO apprenticeship or traineeship programme at Level 4 or above.
