Employers - Register for Got a Trade SpeedMeet

MITO is looking for employers to take part in Got a Trade SpeedMeet in four locations:

  • Wellington – 25th October, Expressions Hall, Upper Hutt
  • Christchurch – 26th October, Halswell Centre, Christchurch
  • Auckland North Shore – 31st October, Freemans Bay Community Centre
  • Auckland South – 1st November, Mangere War Memorial Hall.

All nine industry training organisations involved in the Got a Trade? Got it Made! campaign will have employers present, plus we have teamed up with the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs to help deliver a bigger, better and more broad reaching SpeedMeet programme than ever before.

Due to the variety of employers there will be two ‘tranches’ of employers and the students will select which tranche they are interested in:

  1. ‘Trades’ including automotive, transport, construction, engineering, manufacturing etc.
  2. ‘Services’ including hospitality, retail, beauty, barbering etc.

What are SpeedMeets?
SpeedMeet provides the opportunity to meet with potential employees speed-dating style with seven minute mini-interviews with secondary school students. Participation is free of charge and is supported by MITO’s contribution to the Got a Trade? Got it Made! campaign. Local schools will bring groups of their school-leavers that are actively looking for trades or services careers.

Your commitment
We request that you attend SpeedMeet with jobs available, that may lead to an apprenticeship or on-the-job training programme that leads to a qualification. We ask that your organisation is able to attend from approximately 9:30am-2pm (you might like to share the interviewing with multiple team members).  We will require you to sign up to the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs Pledge. This Pledge simply means that your organisation commits to ‘the development of our young people and to their employability’. By attending our Got a Trade SpeedMeet you’ve already committed to the Pledge! Find out more about the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs.

Please register
Places will be restricted at each SpeedMeet venue, so please register your interest as soon as possible by completing our online form below. Please register no later than Friday 22 September.
